Grocery Store Corruption

Have you ever stopped and thought "Man, the grocery store has it out for me!" Well, I have. I went to the grocery store today to by some fixings for my steak, broccoli, and mashed potato dinner and I was bombarded by icing cookies, chocolate chip cookies, pies, cakes, donuts .. you name it I saw it.

{This is the part where you start to put your imagination to work} I walk into the grocery store and I am BOMBARDED by the cookies and cake section which is right when you walk into the front door. I have a temporary moment of panic in my head and accidently run into a little girl as I try to escape this section quickly! So I push my cart rather quickly to the fruit and veggie section as I had not planned to use a cheat today. Phhhew, no more temptation! WRONG! As I am walking to the milk section to pick up some Chobani yogurt (I have never tried it, but I will let you know how it taste) to my left and to my right I see all of these center sections with oreos and all sorts of sweets aimed at driving a mother with kids crazy and someone who is avoiding temptation crazy as well. In the midst of all this I hear a screaming child who is probably having a break down over some oreos her mom won't get. I get everything I need and then I head to the register where I must pass the ice cream section (ice cream is my weakness even with the nasty rash I get on my face from it) and the cookies and cake section where I ponder looking for a red velvet cupcake and decide. Nope, I am still not ready to use a cheat.

Other than that small part of my day with the possibility to use a cheat today has gone well for a first day of school. One class done, went to the grocery store AND worked out all before 3! Now I am just cooking dinner so at 5 I can eat and hope that I am not starving before I go to bed! Good thing I am out of Baked Lays!

Baked Lays Overdose

Today has been such a long day, I couldn't even make it the whole day without taking a nap! I haven't taken a nap in so long! The bad part about this is that the nap was at like 6pm! Yikes! 6-9pm! Before I took a nap I ate dinner and figured that would hold me over until I went to bed tonight .. WRONG was I! I woke up starving!! {Warning - bad decision to follow} So .. I got some juice and baked lays. That doesn't seem so bad BUT the bad part is I finished the bag that I just bought on Thursday .. ugggh! :/

I had eaten so well today and worked out. Salad and strawberries for lunch, whole wheat crackers for a snack, and chick peas, cous cous, and a few bites of pasta for dinner. I drank all of my water too! And I am still starving as I sit here and type this! By my hunger lever you would think I haven't eaten all day! What to do, what to do?

What I really want to do is bake some cupcakes .. Red Velvet and Funfetti to be exact.


I don't even like chocolate, but Bakerella had these on her blog and they looked yum!

Week 1 Down

Man this week has flown by! I made it back to NY and had sooo much to do! Since Thursday I have ..
  1. Said goodbye to a lot of people
  2. Flown across the country
  3. Got a membership to the YMCA here
  4. Got new tires
  5. Got an oil change
  6. Went grocery shopping
  7. Went Target shopping :)
  8. Babysat
  9. Unpacked 4 suitcases!
  10. Drove 60 miles
  11. Used 0 cheats!
Things that I am praying for ..
  1. A good semester with great grades
  2. A paid internship for the fall
  3. Meeting my goal for the challenge and then some
  4. Whomever is meant to be in my life in the future! :)
  5. A good job for when I graduate in a city where I can have a GREAT roommate! :)
  6. Our women's program at church
  7. All of the beauties
  8. My family
  9. My friends
  10. That I can find a home church here

I am so thankful for my cheat cards (I still have all 25) and for my thoughts on "what would the beast do?" whenever I want to use a cheat! I have been bombarded with ice cream request and I looooove ice cream. People don't understand why I do not want any, but I just stop and think .. "Nothing tastes as good as weighing in the 100's is going to feel!"

I also loooove cheesecake!! The cheesecake factory will be a definite cheat! Yum red velvet cheesecake! I have it planned!!

Challenge 3 Here We Come

So here is the start of challenge 3 .. and we are ready!! We made all 25 cheat cards (actually Erin did) for this challenge and they all have words of encouragement/wisdom/funny sayings on them! We both set a goal for 10 lbs this challenge and we are determined to meet our goal! 3rd times a charm .. right?! Hehe

Here we are with a combined total of 50 cheats! Man .. what to do or eat with 50 cheats!!
Here is our before picture 8/23/09 in our challenge shirts. These shirts sure do draw a lot of attention. Me and Jennifer (another beauty) both wore it not knowing the other was going to wear it and got asked so many questions. Many people wanted to know about it, but then when we said limited sweets and fried food they said no thank you! haha! It is just so amazing to see how many people recognize you with the shirt on or want to know exactly what "the challenge" is.
"What would the Beast do?" That is one of the cheat cards that Erin made! Maybe it will help me think if the cheat is actually worth it.

I miss my car and I can't wait to go apple picking!! I will be reunited with my car in 4 days and back in NY. Quite honestly I am not dreading it quite as much as I thought I would be. It is going to be a great semester! I can already tell!!

80th post

Wow! I can't believe I have blogged 80 times already! In honor of today being Friday and my obsessions with lists I am going to use today to list 10 things I am thankful for

1. I am thankful for life! For the air I breathe, for waking up this morning and for all the beauty around us.

2. I am thankful that God sent his only son to come and die on the cross for my sins.

3. I am thankful for my family. Yes, sometimes they drive me craaazy! but I am put with them for a purpose!

4. I am thankful for my friends! Friends are like the family you get to choose! They help you make sense of the world and keep you level headed!

5. I am thankful for the wonderful internship I had this summer. It was great and I had great experiences. Today is my last day and I have two weeks left to enjoy Texas!

6. I am thankful for food to eat. There are many people who don't have food to eat and I see it everyday when I walk to work.

7. I am thankful for a home to sleep in and a roof over my head that keeps me safe. I could be homeless but I am not.

8. I am thankful for the bills I have to pay. If I have bills to pay this means that God has provided a job for me.

9. I am thankful for all of my challenge friends. They have helped make 5 months of exercising and counting cheats worth all of the hard work.

10. I am thankful for you! Whoever you are reading this, you are loved!

A very very bad weigh in this morning. On top of that I have been out of town at a conference and I had every intention of working out! I took my gym clothes and shoes with me, but the hotel did not have a gym. The hotel was actually very much so an experience! So I have set out a new goal for myself. Since the whole challenge started in the Spring I have lost about 20 lbs!! Yippee! i gained a couple of that back this past two weeks of not working out, but I am on a workout diet! I am gonna try and workout everyday until I go back to school on the 27th. I know excuses excuses! They are not good. I messed up and I am ready to get back on track!

Kind of bittersweet. i have enjoyed my summer, but I am ready to use my brain towards school work. Plus only 2 semesters left until I have a Masters! OOOH!!
